Walking Tall: Shoes With Lifting Ability for the Short Man

Updated: Sep 13

Short No More- These Shoes Can Give You An Added Boost In Height

When I was younger, one of my favorite songs to listen to was performed by, 5ft 8in rapper, Skee-lo. The song titled, I Wish, spoke of the misfortune felt by many men of a shorter stature. At the time, I just thought the song was fun as it had a nice beat and a funny video (certainly entertaining for a young child). Now, as an adult that has been blessed to have shared many heart-to-heart talks with men of all different shapes and sizes, I’ve come to realize the sentiments shared in this song are very real for a lot of guys. If only they could’ve been taller by just a few more inches, they could’ve gotten the girl or maybe even felt that their presence demanded more respect from their peers. Regardless if this is a fact that can be proven or not, it is definitely the type of thinking that can lead to a lifetime of insecurity.

While I cannot offer or suggest a permanent remedy for shortness (trust me, if I could, I would offer it to myself) I can offer a temporary fix that can have you standing tall in no time-allow me to introduce, elevator shoes.

Elevator Shoes

Elevator shoes are height increasing shoes that can add anywhere from 2 to 6 inches to your height. Now, I know what you’re thinking, “I’m not wearing heels,” and I don’t blame you for thinking that, but the modern designs offered by companies like Tall Men Shoes and Chamaripa make the “lift” undetectable in many of their shoes. If you are a man of a certain age, you may be familiar with the shoe lift inserts. While the inserts definitely work and are much cheaper, I think you would find the elevator shoes to be a better option simply because the shoes are designed to contain the lifts- thus creating a less bulky appearance and assisting with better posture. With the insert, many men complained about their feet feeling uncomfortable in the shoes because the inserts were not stable, the addition of the inserts made their shoes feel much tighter, and their stride now felt obstructed and off balance due to their heel being awkwardly displaced in their shoes. Although the elevator shoes have been said to take some getting used to, it has also been said that they eliminate a great deal of those discomfort issues due to their design.

Thoughts And Suggestions

My personal thought and suggestion on these shoes is to first—love yourself as is and only use the shoes as an added touch for special occasions and important events in which you would like to add a little razzle dazzle to your look. Secondly, really take your time to research the brands that specialize in making these types of shoes. Regardless of if price is not an issue for you, you still want to make sure that you are getting the right quality for your investment and for how often you think you may wear the shoes. Thirdly, while these shoes are designed to lift and go undetected, I find that most times, anything over 3 inches starts to look a bit noticeable (especially if you are wearing skinny jeans- so I suggest opting for jeans with a wider leg). If you have Google or a lady in your life, ask to see a wedge heel and you’ll see exactly what your options will start to look like after 3 inches (in most cases.) Lastly, after getting the shoes, do NOT put them on for a full day of work or night of dancing. My strong suggestion is that you wear them around the house for a while, take a few laps around the front yard and break your shoes in. You will need to get used to walking in the shoes at your new height and to mentally break yourself out of thinking everybody is looking at you and can easily detect your special shoes—or even your new height! The slight change, although drastic, will initially seem so natural that most people will only be able to tell that there is something slightly different about you but won’t be able to pinpoint exactly what it is.

Conclusion

All in all, the elevator shoes are a great option to boost not only your height, but they can sure add an extra inch to your confidence as well. Their sleek design and specialized technology can make sure you’re walking tall and comfortably in just a matter of seconds. After researching the perfect brand for you, all that’s needed after purchasing is a little time to break the shoes in to get used to the new adjustment-after that, you will be ready to start stepping high. Just ALWAYS remember that at any height you are “da man”... and that is all that matters.
